It should be no surprise that this site was birthed out of change. As a career federal manager, I have reached a turning point. Additionally, I am less than a year away from completing my doctoral degree with the University of Maryland Global Campus. My dissertation topic? Change, of course! But I have been kicking around the change spaces for awhile so this is just a continuation of my journey.

I currently serve as a senior human resources (HR) manager within a cabinet-level agency. I am a self-proclaimed, lifelong learner and have used my passion for growth and development to cultivate my organization’s culture of continuous learning. Second only to my love for learning, is my commitment to organizational health and effectiveness. Organizations can’t function without people (unless it is an entire organization run by AI – but I digress). Despite our astonishing progress with AI, people continue to be the lifeblood of most, if not all, organizations. For that reason, it is important that we do what we can to create and sustain healthy organizations with solid leadership and an engaged workforce.

I am proud to include six short years of active-duty service in the United States Air Force as part of my federal service. It was a fantastic time in my life, and I have the utmost respect for our active-duty service members. That is why I began my federal civilian career as a Transition Specialist, helping my active duty colleagues prepare to separate or retire from active service and begin civilian careers. This was the beginning of my relationship with change management. Oh, I had been experiencing change all my life (as we all do). However, as a Transition Specialist, I was given the unique opportunity to look at change from the outside into the lives of my clients. I was blessed with the opportunity to help them understand what they were going through during our change management classes. I was doubly blessed to receive an occasional check-in from one of my clients to share a success story with me. I am hoping the information that is shared on this site will be helpful to someone who needs it.
